Accelerate Testing with Advanced Techniques

iTest® helps you further accelerate testing by building procedures and graphical topologies.

A procedure is typically a set of commands that can be used in multiple test cases and functions as a reusable building block for tests. The procedure might be a simple set of commands for device setup or commands with analysis. With iTest, you can create procedures once, and then drag and drop them into any test case or make them accessible via a drop down list during capture. Advanced testers often use this technique to speed test development and avoid building the same commands over again.

Similarly, topologies can also be built once and used multiple times with iTest. Topologies contain all the information for connecting to devices in your test, such as IP addresses and login credentials. A graphical topology editor within iTest allows you to quickly build a topology by dragging and dropping in new devices, traffic generators, etc. from a customizable palette.  You can then right click a device in your topology to gain immediate access for manual or automated testing.

If you wanted to build a quick system test with three devices and needed to check their configuration status, you could easily build a topology containing the three devices. Right click on a device to connect immediately and use the QuickCalls drop down menu to select the correct procedure for checking the configuration status. iTest captures the interaction and cleanly builds and labels each step in your test.
