The First Annual Fanfare QA Technology Forum

Customers and industry visionaries share insights and successes

On October 24, 2006, Fanfare held its first annual QA Technology Forum at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California. This full-house event attracted industry-leading Fanfare customers such as Cisco and Vyatta, as well as industry luminaries and key technology partners.

Fanfare's own CTO, Kingston Duffie, kicked off the event with an in-depth perspective on the evolution of innovation barriers (also referenced in this newsletter), as well as the successes that customers like Cisco have achieved since using the Fanfare solution. Former Gartner Group analyst, Theresa Lanawitz, followed up with detailed research on the state of networking equipment testing, barriers to product innovation, and what can be done to avoid an industry crisis.

After the presentations, Fanfare partners and customers led a lively and interactive Q&A session featuring:

  • Henrick Bostrom from Cisco Systems
  • Tom Grennan from Vyatta
  • Bruce Nash from Ixia
  • Kingston Duffie from Fanfare

We were truly impressed with the quality of the audience participation, as well as our insider's ability to quickly deliver pragmatic, actionable responses.

Some of the key issues discussed included:

  • If you had to choose what is most important: would it be time to market or overall product quality? Why?
  • How does your organization track/quantify the impact of quality problems that reach the field?
  • What do you think is the next innovation in networking? Will that have an impact on testing the resulting quality of products?
  • How do you build ROI for QA resources with your management?
  • What would be your advice to an organization that is making the move from a fully manual approach to one that incorporates automation?
