iTest® Report Viewer

A common way to share test reports among iTest users is to export them to HTML and then share that file. The standard HTML report that is exported by iTest is very flat and can be hard to analyze for complex reports. What one would really need is something like the built-in report viewer in iTest that provides all the information in a rich, structured fashion that can also show information like structured data, parameters used, and images associated with the steps. The problem is that to use the built-in report viewer, the user who you are sending a report to needs to have iTest installed. Not only that, they need to have a workspace setup and then go through a test report import wizard to get the report in the iTest database.

Enter the iTest Report Viewer for Firefox®. This application is a Firefox extension that lets you have the same iTest-like report viewing capabilities and experience, but inside your web browser. It will also show structured data, images, and parameters used for the test case – all the data that is missing in standard HTML reports. Moreover, pretty much everyone has Firefox so there's no need to install iTest just to view reports on another machine.

Installation Instructions

  1. Download and save the .zip file to your local hard drive, then unzip the folder to extract the files. In the extracted directory, you will see a copy of the iTest App Store Terms of Service as well as a .xpi file.
  2. Open Firefox, then go to the File menu and select "Open File..." and browse to the location of the iTestReportViewer.xpi file.
  3. Firefox will install the extension for you and will ask you to restart the browser. That’s it!

Using the iTest Report Viewer

  1. In your Firefox browser, go to the Tools menu and select “Open Test Report…”
  2. This will launch a file dialog. Select a fftz file and Firefox will open the test report in a new tab.
