This application adds a new "XMPP Messenger" session type to iTest that can be used to send instant messages (IMs) from iTest using any messaging client that supports XMPP (Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol).
This application uses the XMPP platform as a mechanism for sending IMs from iTest. Examples of XMPP-compatible messaging clients include Google Talk and Jabber. (More information about XMPP can be found here.)
Each person who wishes to receive IMs from iTest needs to have their own account on the supported messaging client. A new account will need to be created specifically for iTest to use to send the IMs (iTest Sender Account). Other users of that client can then add the iTest Sender Account to their buddy list to receive IMs from iTest.
Using XMPP as a platform gives users access to built-in control management features such as:
This application is provided as a packaged update that can be installed directly into iTest using the "Software Updates" functionality.
